Damien Paineau

Group Leader in charge of Nutritional Epidemiology

I am responsible for Danone’s nutritional epidemiology team. I studied agricultural engineering and wrote my thesis on ELPAS (Longitudinal Prospective Study on Healthy Food) and the prevention of childhood obesity. I have a lot of experience in the field of clinical studies and nutritional services.

Dennis Bier

Professor in Pediatrics and Director of the Nutrition Research Program

Dennis Bier is Professor of Pediatrics, Director of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Children's Nutrition Research Center and Program Director of the NIH (National Institues of Health) General Clinical Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine.

- He also serves as Editor-in-Chiefof the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and Associate Editor of the Annual Review of Nutrition.

- He thinks that "Children are our most precious natural resource and the key to this planet's future", that's why il want to dedicate his expertise to develop Child Nutrition.

 

Françoise Pratbernou

Group leader responsible for the creation of product recipes

 

Since joining Danone in 1991, I have worked in several areas: analysis (aromas, fat, pesticides…), baby product and biscuits development. A six-year break enabled me to fulfill my life-long passion for mountain trekking: I became a guide and accompanied groups all over the world. After reintegrating Danone in 2006, I worked in product development as a Group Manager in Lu, discovering a new profession where I could express my creativity while using all my product development skills.

 

Jean-Michel Faurie

Probiotics and fermentation expert

 

I am a Danone expert in fermentation, bacterial cultures and probiotics, specialized in metabolism and the physiology of lactic bacteria. After having studied agro-food engineering, I worked for an enzyme producer and wrote a thesis on microbiology before joining Danone’s research department in 1996.

 

Martine Piaia

Group Leader responsible for Nutritional Quality

 

Having studied agricultural engineering in Paris, I started working for Danone R&D in 1987, occupying various positions, from Project Manager to Scientific Communication Manager. In 2005, I started managing the Nutritional Quality team of the Global Nutrition Platform. The team uses nutritional science to define Danone products’ nutritional quality objectives, managing the evolution of this quality over time in collaboration with the other divisions.

 

Mary Ellen Sanders

Consultant, Dairy & Food Culture Technologies

Dr. Sanders, through her business Dairy & Food Culture Technologies, consults on many aspects of probiotic applications in the food and supplement industries. She believes sustained uccess of probiotics is possible only if products are scientifically validated, responsibly produced and accurately labeled. She strives to balance the potential consumer benefits of probiotics with an understanding of the emerging science. Based on her extensive work with manufacturers, academicians and regulators, Dr. Sanders offers a comprehensive perspective to those interested in the continued emergence of the probiotic industry. In addition to her consulting work, she serves as the Executive Director of the International Scientific Association for
Probiotics and Prebiotics.

Nicolas Gausserès

Director of Danone’s Research and Nutrition department

Having studied engineering and graduated with a doctorate in nutrition, I have worked for Danone for the last 12 years, where I contributed to the development of nutritional sciences, particularly in R&D. I am currently responsible the R&D’s Nutrition department, a service whose objective is to define and drive Danone’s nutrition strategy and to supply the four divisions with expertise (Dairy Products, Waters, Child and Medical Nutrition).
